Dr. Matt Burr, Veterinarian/Owner
Dr. Burr graduated vet school and began working here in 2010. He worked as a Veterinary Technician for 11 years prior to attending Vet School at Michigan State University. Dr. Burr has one Corgie dog, named "Tot", and a Shih Tzu named "Kevin". He purchased the veterinary clinic from Dr. Denney in November of 2020.

Dr. Carol Neal, Veterinarian
Dr. Neal works part time on Tuesday and Thursday mornings seeing routine vaccinations only. Her and her husband used to own Portage Animal Hospital. She missed being a veterinarian so much she as come out of retirement part time to help us out!

Dr. Tama Cathers, Veterinarian
Dr. Cathers previously worked here back in 2015, so you may remember her from before.
She is back now part time on Wednesday mornings! She studied at NC State University.
We are so very happy to have her back and can't wait for you to meet her!

Wendy Burr, Hospital Manager
Wendy has worked here since 1997. She attended KVCC and Glen Oaks University focusing on business and accounting, and is currently taking veterinary practice management courses. Wendy has 2 cats and an energetic black lab at home and has lived in the area her whole life, growing up on a dairy farm. She keeps busy, crafting, gardening, and raising Monarch butterflies, hunting, and spending time up north with her significant other, Travis, at the cabin.

Cassie Lewis, LVT, Lead Technician
Cassie is one our lead licensed veterinary technician (LVT) who started here in 2016 and graduated from The MSU Veterinary Technology Program. In her spare time she enjoys working with and showing mini horses in both riding and driving disciplines, as well as volunteering as a 4-H leader in St. Joseph County.

Jordaea Alvarez, Vet Assistant
Jordaea started here in December 2022. She attended Ross Medical and obtained her certification in veterinary assisting and previously worked at another vet clinic prior to coming here. We are happy to have her as part of the team!

Heidi Sanford, Receptionist
Heidi is originally from the Mendon area. This is her first positon in the veterinary field and she joined us in March 2024.

Emilie Bird, Vet Assistant
Emilie joined our team in mid June 2024 and is a recent graduate from Michigan State University where she studied zoology. She loves all cats and dogs but has a sweet soft spot for chocolate labs and corgi's!

Ashley Carvey-Schulz, Receptionist/Vet Assistant
Ashley is very excited to be joining our team! She started here in August 2024. She has 3 cats and 3 dogs. She loves to garden and create art. Ashley is looking forward to meeting all of you and your pets!

Hannah Hull, Receptionist/Office Clerk
Hannah worked here back in 2018 until 2021 as a receptionist. She worked in daycare for a while, and spent a year overseas in Slovenia. She is now back as a receptionist and part time office assistant.
